Rep. John Rubin joins State Legislators from across the nation to find ‘Solutions for the States’ -- Rep. John Rubin recently represented the people of Kansas at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) 38th Annual Meeting, held in New Orleans, LA, August 3 – 6. State legislators, policy experts, and private-sector leaders from across the country gathered to discuss the issues facing the states and our nation at this critical time.
Rubin Defeats Neighbor in District 18 -- John was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives from the 18th District (Shawnee and Lake Quivira) on Tuesday night. It was a landslide. In a night of big Republican gains throughout Kansas and across the nation, John defeated Democratic incumbent Cindy Neighbor by a vote of 4882 (59%) to 3665 (41%). After a very hard fought campaign, John and his wife Birdie, his family, and many of his volunteers and supporters had a big election night victory party with other successful Johnson County Republican candidates at the Overland Park Marriott Hotel. John's daughters Shana and Sandy also flew into town from Denver and Atlanta, respectively, to help celebrate. A great time was had by all. John will be sworn into office and take his seat in the Kansas House on January 10.
